Our mission

Transform 1million Lives by 2035

At Lift One, we believe in the power of collective action.  By attending our events you help tackle two major obstacles faced by women and girls in the Global South; period poverty and lack of clean cooking facilities.

  • 10% of adolescent girls in Africa miss school during their period. They miss an average of 528 school days – nearly two years of learning.
  • A 2019 report stated 23 million girls in India drop out of school annually due to lack of menstrual management facilities, including sanitary pads.
  • Women and children in Global South countries can spend up to 5 hours a day gathering fuel for cooking and can be at risk of violence and sexual assault when travelling alone in search of fuel.
  • Women in particular are exposed to unhealthy, harmful pollutants in smoke from cooking.

When women are educated,
everyone wins

  • Just a 1% increase of women being educated leads to a 0.3% increase in the average GDP, and boosts annual GDP growth by 0.2 percentage points.
  • Education of women and girls not only drives economic growth, empowers them and their families, but is also one of the most effective ways of tackling climate change.
  • Clean cooking significantly improves the health of women and their families and can reduce fuel use by 30-60%, lowering climate-harming emissions.

Mindy Emsley

Having spent over 25 years in the events industry, launching B2B conferences and exhibitions globally, I was well versed in jumping from one show target to the next. But then slowly, painfully, I began to unravel.

During a period of rebuilding, I qualified as an Executive Coach, explored my identity as a British Asian woman, and immersed myself in topics close to my heart including women’s health, climate and gender equity. I also rediscovered the true source of my passion for events; the magic that happens when people connect, and energy and ideas spark.

So, here is Lift One; a space where I co-create, impactful, meaningful  gatherings driving positive outcomes for people and planet.
